The awkward touch of silence.
It abruptly rips through my comfort;
Uninvited hands on paper skin.
A lump in my throat.
Many things I thought I wouldn't say.
Uncertainty will find it's way in.
Though this time, through known faces.
I can still catch it, the split-second stare.
And me knowing you don't approve
The edgy laughs, the forced grin,
Only pushes me deeper into the fading air,
Sucked up in selfishness
As you feel the need to breathe.
